To set a custom white balance, users must do so first on their camera, then select the appropriate white balance in the Camera Settings Window using the White Balance Option. This slightly varies from Canon to Nikon cameras. Canon camera Custom White Balance option will be listed as Custom in the drop down. Nikon cameras will be listed as Preset (and if multiple Presets available (ex. Preset 1, Preset 2 etc..), make sure you use the correct preset option you had set).
